Brand Manager, Art Director & Graphic Designer

The reasons I like branding, are the same reasons I like travelling, art, photography and people. I like the unique. And Branding done right in my mind is all about finding the unique in a company, the people working there and the products or services they deliver. And once found, amplifying and applying those qualities both to the communication, strategy, products and internal culture. In effect creating a stronger company.

My experience comes from working in one company, for the last 10 years. And in particular the work I have done since 2011 when the Otrum brand became my main responsibility. I launched and completed an extensive rebranding that made Otrum a standout in the guest technology sector. A process I completed with a strong and continued focus on delivering real results and change under budget. I am very proud of what I have been able to accomplish with Otrum.

My career in Otrum I started out as a graphic designer working with customizing our products for our customers. Customers I have worked with include large international hotel chains such as Hilton, Corinthia, Reneissance, Warwick, Radisson, Marriott, Scandic, Starwood, Mövenpick, Sofitel, Four Seasons, Le Meriddien, Park Inn, Novotel, Intercontinental, Fairmont, Ritz Carlton and many many more. As well as many landmark individual hotels.

A big part of the branding effort in Otrum was focused on the internal communication as we were very much a brand where the main brand interaction came through our employees. As such, new values, mission statements, as well as internal communications through blogging and social media were very successful in increasing employee satisfaction, team spirit, as well as customer satisfaction and brand impression. 

Through my nine years in Otrum I have developed strong skills in B2B marketing, and my experience has always been focused on creating deep impressions with a relatively small audience of potential customers. Working with such a small audience and relatively limited budgets we have been successful forging relationships, through activites done in concert with our customers own marketing departments. We have also had great success with creating our own media content such as short youtube videos, and other shareable content on social media that was easily and successfully shared and distributed within our customers own organisations.

I have also been deeply involved in creating a brand strategy that integrates products as a part of the whole. And today Otrum's product portfolio is a cohesive offering of "guest-technology" that covers everything from the guests devices to the TVs in the rooms. Not as when I started, a list of seemingly unrelated switches, cables, servers and TVs. Our new product line has naming conventions, iconography, and a cohesive responsive design language for everything from smartphones to 85" inch plasma screens and digital signage. Today we present a modular, customizable product range that not only offers the solutions our customers are looking for, but also presents Otrum as a go-to company whenever a new need arises.

Through all my work I have worked closely with Otrums R&D, product department, management, sales as well as our customers. Collecting wishes, specifications and targets and constructing sensible, useful solutions that have had appeal and effect beyond the original wishes and requests.

Throughout this all, I have remaind actively creating media and designs. Not just making plans, but also executing them to a successful end. A very hands on, pragmatic approach to reaching strategic brand goals.
