One of my favorite things are printed bottles - those without paper or plastic labels. Like the old Coke bottles that had the white lettering printed directly on the glass, simple beautiful, smooth, awesome. Its so much better looking then some ratty paper label.
Tangentially I posted some pictures of some great Dominican packaging a long while back, hinting at a future post on Dominican painted signs and ads. Ads and billboards essentially without the paper, metal or plastic we see everywhere. And here it is. I think the pictures speak mostly for themselves.
But I want to mention that most Dominicans would readily say that they are not great artists. They think that is the Haitians across the border that are blessed with the artistic skills. However, I have seen a lot of great typography, bold color choices and crafty illustrations used by these housepainting advertising signmakers. Below are some of my favorites.
